It Started on the Streets

Rafiki Foods was born from a trip home to East Africa, where I saw heaps of perfectly good avocados discarded by street vendors at day’s end. If they didn’t sell today, they had to throw them out.

That waste hurt to watch—especially when the fruit is so rich in quality and care. I began wondering: what if there was a way to give those avocados new life? What if they could be turned into something better?

A Deeper Problem

I followed the supply chain and found factories converting "reject" avocados into beautiful, nutrient-rich oil. But the story ended at the gate—the farmers were invisible. It was all transaction, no recognition.

That’s where Rafiki stepped in. We don’t just source oil—we work with communities. We show the faces, tell the stories, and honor the hands behind every drop. It’s food with roots.

This is the Rafiki Way

We believe food should be personal. That every bottle of avocado oil should carry the quality of the land and the care of the people who grew it.

When you taste Rafiki, you’re not just tasting purity. You’re supporting a system that gives back. One that honors the quiet hands tending to the trees. One that says: food starts with people.
