Independent lab report · 2025 harvest

Quality Report · Oct 2025

How to tell it's real avocado oil
  • Fatty acids (page 1): avocado oil has a distinctive profile: lots of palmitic (20.6%) and palmitoleic (9.9%) acid. Olive, canola and sunflower oils have very little palmitoleic acid, so cutting avocado oil with them would pull this number down.
  • Sterols (page 2): the plant-sterol fingerprint (mostly beta-sitosterol, with a total above 3,800 mg/kg) matches avocado.
  • Freshness: low acidity (0.62%) and a low peroxide value (3.0) mean the oil is fresh and cold-pressed, not refined or oxidised.

Unrefined, extra-virgin avocado oil from a single origin: Embu and Ruiru, Kenya. Extracted without heat or solvents. The fruit is skinned, de-seeded, milled and spun in a centrifuge until the oil separates.

Independently lab-tested (Oct 2025): acidity 0.62%, peroxide value 3.0 meq O₂/kg, with a fatty-acid and sterol profile that matches avocado.

We press once a year, during the Kenyan avocado season (March–August), and sell each batch by season. The oil shipping now is from the 2025 harvest, pressed in August 2025 and best before 08/2027.

The avocados are grown by smallholder farmers in Embu and Ruiru. We visit these communities regularly, and every bottle you buy directly impacts the farmers who grow the fruit.

Cook: best over medium heat (smoke point about 400°F). Great for sautéing, roasting, eggs and baking.

Drizzle: on salads, bread, rice and bowls. This is where the avocadoee flavour shines.

Skip: deep-frying and smoking-hot searing. Use a refined oil for those.

Will buy again and again

Great avocado oil. You can tell it's different; the color, texture, how it reacts to heat. I will definitely be buying again. Well done!!!

How It's Made

Five steps from the tree to the bottle

No heat and no solvents. The fruit is opened, milled and spun, and the oil comes out on its own.

01

The avocados come from the farmers

First, we get the avocados from farmers in Embu and Ruiru, Kenya.

02

Wash and skin the avocados

The only way to make extra-virgin avocado oil is to remove the seed and skin of it.

03

Make a guacamole

With the leftover pulp, mix and make a consistent guacamole-like paste.

04

Let the centrifuge do its thing

Spin the guac at 5,000 rpm in a high-speed centrifuge to separate the oil from the water.

05

What's left is avocado oil

It's literally avocado juice. The water is recycled back to the farms.

Frequently Asked Questions

You got questions. And Rafiki’s got answers.

What is the return policy?

Because this is food, we don’t do returns.

If something went wrong on our end, we’ll make it right and send you a replacement.

If you tried it and it’s simply not for you, that’s okay too. We’ll refund you.

Just reply to your original order email and we shall take care of the rest.

No hoops. No pressure.

How does the avo oil feel?

If there is one thing almost everyone mentions, it's this:

It feels light, not greasy.

People often say it doesn’t sit heavy and doesn’t leave that oily coating feeling. Which is why it works so well as a finishing oil (and yes, even as small shots).

How does the avo oil taste?

Like avocado.

It has a naturally avocadoee-forward, clean flavour — not neutral, not blended, not deodorized.

Think fresh avocado juice from the juiciest avocados.

Where is the avo oil from?

We proudly source our avocados from the Embu and Ruiru regions of Kenya.

These regions are known for growing large, high-quality avocados and they’re also where we focus our farmer and community support.

Why is this a limited batch?

Our avocado oil is pressed once a year, in season, and we don’t store it indefinitely.

We press during the Kenyan avocado season (March–August) and sell each batch by season. That means:

  • No old stock
  • No year-round industrial pressing
  • No constant replenishing at the cost of freshness

For example:

If it’s 2026, your oil was pressed in August 2025.

How long does the avo oil last?

Under normal storage conditions, it lasts up to 2 years from pressing.

You can extend that lifespan by:

  • Keeping it in a cool, dark place
  • Freezing it if you want to be extra careful

Freshness matters to us, and we’re transparent about it.

When will my order ship?

We ship orders once a week, every Friday.

This helps us stay small, fresh, and intentional with how we handle each batch.

How much does shipping cost?

Shipping is never more than $10 in Canada. If it is, we pay the difference.

The exact cost depends on where you live and how far you are from our dispatch location, but we keep it as low as possible.

How do I know where the tips go?

We believe in showing, not telling.

Whenever we make impact supporting farmers, families, or community projects — we share it openly.
You’ll see exactly what’s being done and who it’s reaching.

Instagram is always the first place we post updates, so that’s the best place to follow along.
